Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy at The ARC is carried out by ACPAT physiotherapist Kat Clarke and her team.  The physiotherapists uses a range of physiotherapy techniques, on land exercises and electrotherapy to offer bespoke rehab plans catered to your pets requirements.

Treatment Techniques

  • Hands on techniques - massage / soft tissue release / joint mobilisations / sensory techniques

  • Electrotherapy - pulsed electromagnetic energy / laser / light therapy / muscle stim or TENs

  • Exercise programmes - range of movement / stretches / strength and proprioception

  • Static postures, gait re-education and proprioception work

  • Endurance and stamina training 

  • Advice & education

  • Orthotic advice and application

  • Referral to hydrotherapy / Liaison with other professionals.

Physiotherapy Sessions

Physiotherapy sessions are booked through Kat Clarke Physio, this is a separate company working as an associate of the ARC. The Kat Clarke physio team comprises of specialists in physiotherapy and rehab.

Appointments are booked for 45 mins - 1 hour which include a thourough rehab assesment, gait analysis, soft tissue treatments and a bespoke home exercise plan.

 

Cases that benefit from phsyiotherapy include:

  • Management of chronic conditions, e.g. Osteoarthritis

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Orthopaedic Conditions (Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, Cruciate Disease...etc)

  • Neurological cases (Intervertebral Disc Disease, Degenerative Myelopathy...etc)

  • Rehabilitation post operatively (Orthopaedic / Neurological surgery)

  • Performance enhancement / MOT sessions for our sporting animals

  • Lifestyle / weight management programmes

Booking An Appointment

For all conditions, sport medicine programs and fitness patients we require permission from your vets for our therapists  to assess and treat your pet. 

To process this we require the following information:

-Therapy requested i.e hydrotherapy, physiotherapy

- The full name of your pet registered at your vets & condition coming for

- The vets your pets are registered with

-The first line of your address

We will then contact your vets to complete our referral forms and request your pets clinical history. Once this has been returned we will contact you to book your initial consultation.

Pet Insurance

We are registered with the Canine Hydrotherapy Association and the Association of Charted Physiotherapist in Animal Therapy, therefore most insurance companies will cover the costs of your treatment, this comes under complimentary therapy (for hydrotherapy and acupuncture) and vet fees (for physiotherapy) on your policy. Please speak to us if you have further questions on how to claim on your insurance.
